What is substance abuse? Substance abuse is the use of one or more drugs, including alcohol, which significantly and negatively impacts one of more major areas of life functioning. Who is eligible to receive substance abuse services? Eligibility for substance abuse services varies depending upon the funding source and program type. The determination of eligibility will be made by receiving an assessment. In what ways can Lubbock Regional MHMR Center help? Lubbock Regional MHMR Center manages a network of services for people with a chemical dependency. Screenings and assessments are free and available to everyone, and treatment is available to individuals determined to be eligible. All individuals found eligible for services will be given a choice of providers within Region 1. These services help ensure that a person with a chemical dependency will be provided with the appropriate level of care through each stage of recovery.
