The Joint Commission

Sunrise Canyon Hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission. The Joint Commission conducts an external, objective evaluation of our performance in relation to state-of-the-art standards that relate to the quality of care we provide. These standards of performance are recognized by The Joint Commission, and by the many health care experts and representatives of the public who contribute to their development, as being achievable under generally ideal circumstances.  This evaluation is voluntary and usually occurs every three years.

Sunrise Canyon Hospital has had four surveys since it was built in 1996.  Each survey resulted in a decision of “Accredited,” showing full compliance with all applicable standards.  Our most recent evaluation was conducted through an on-site survey by experienced health care professional surveyors from The Joint Commission on December 11-13, 2006.  These surveyors gathered extensive performance information as the basis for judging standards compliance in the performance areas. 

By undertaking this evaluation, we demonstrate our commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and public accountability for the care and services we provide.

Sunrise Canyon Hospital is licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services under Private Psychiatric Hospitals and Crisis Stabilization Units.

Medicare Certification

Sunrise Canyon Hospital's agreement for participation in the Medicare program as a psychiatric hospital was accepted by the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, effective May 18, 1998.  The Office for Civil Rights made subsequent determination that the hospital was in compliance with the regulations implementing Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Age Discrimination Act of 1975.
