Brian D. Shannon, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Charles "Tex" Professor of Law at Texas Tech University has been elected the Chair of the Lubbock Regional MHMR Center Board of Trustees at the board meeting held September 27, 2004.

Mr. Shannon has served on the Lubbock Regional MHMR Center board since 1991. In addition to his duties at the TTU School of Law, he has written numerous publications including Texas Criminal Procedure and the Offender with Mental Illness: An Analysis and Guide.  He has also serves on the Governor's Committee on People with Disabilities. On October 22, 2004 he will receive the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Angelo State University.
