Lubbock Regional MHMR Awarded Accreditation from Joint Commission January 20, 2004 Sunrise Canyon Hospital, a service of Lubbock Regional MHMR, earned a three-year accreditation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. By meeting the national standards for health care quality and safety, Sunrise Canyon Hospital earned the Joint Commission’s Goal Seal of Approval™. According to Danette Castle, Chief Executive Officer of Lubbock Regional MHMR Center, “The accreditation demonstrates our continued commitment to providing safe, high quality care.” Mary Gerlach, Sunrise Canyon Hospital Administrator says, “We view obtaining Joint Commission accreditation as another step toward achieving excellence in patient care.” As an independent, not-for-profit organization founded in 1951, the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations seeks to continuously improve the safety and quality of care provided to the public through the provision of health care accreditation and related services. The Joint Commission evaluates and accredits nearly 17,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States, including approximately 9,000 hospitals and home care organizations, and 8,000 other health care organizations that provide long term care, assisted living, behavioral health care, laboratory and ambulatory care services.
